my country has made major innovation breakthroughs in the field of high-speed maglev. On July 20, my country’s 600 km/h high-speed maglev transportation system, which was developed by CRRC and has completely independent intellectual property rights, was successfully rolled off the assembly line in Qingdao. This is the world’s first high-speed maglev transportation system designed to reach 600 km/h. my country has mastered the complete set of high-speed maglev technology and engineering capabilities. 
In order to master the key technology of high-speed maglev, under the support of the “13th Five-Year” National Key Research and Development Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Advanced Rail Transit Key Special Project, organized by CRRC and led by CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd., brings together more than 30 domestic maglev and high-speed rail fields. Universities, research institutes and enterprises “production, study, research and application” jointly launched the development of a high-speed maglev transportation system with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour.

The project was launched in October 2016, and a test prototype was developed in 2019. It was successfully tested on the test line of Tongji University in Shanghai in June 2020. After system optimization, the final technical plan was determined and a complete system was developed in January 2021. And started a six-month joint debugging and joint test.

So far, after 5 years of research, the 600km/h high-speed maglev transportation system was officially launched, successfully conquering key core technologies, and the system solved the problems of speed improvement, complex environment adaptability, and core system localization, and realized system integration, vehicles, and traction. Major breakthroughs in complete sets of engineering technologies such as power supply, operation control communications, and line tracks.

Independently developed my country’s first 5 sets of 600 kilometers per hour high-speed maglev engineered trains. A new head type and aerodynamic solution were developed to solve the aerodynamic problems under ultra-high speed conditions. Using advanced laser hybrid welding and carbon fiber technology, a lightweight and high-strength car body that meets the requirements of ultra-high-speed air-tight load-bearing has been developed. Independently developed suspension guidance and speed measurement positioning devices, and the control accuracy has reached the international leading level. Break through the key manufacturing process and master the manufacturing technology of key core components such as suspension frame, electromagnet and controller.
Overcome key technologies such as high-power IGCT traction converter and high-precision synchronous traction control, and completed the independent development of high-speed maglev traction power supply system. Master the key technologies of vehicle-to-ground communication under high-speed conditions, such as ultra-low delay transmission and partition handover control, and innovate and establish a high-speed maglev transportation control system that adapts to the automatic tracking operation of the long-distance trunk line. A new high-precision track beam that satisfies the high-speed and smooth running of trains has been developed.

Innovate in system integration, break through technical bottlenecks in application scenarios and complex environment adaptability, so that high-speed maglev can meet the needs of long-distance, commuting and multi-scenario applications, and adapt to complex geographic and climatic environments such as river tunnels, high cold, high temperature and high humidity.

At present, the 600 kilometers per hour high-speed maglev transportation system has completed the integration and system joint adjustment, and the five marshalling trains have realized stable suspension and dynamic operation on the in-plant commissioning line, with good functional performance.

According to Ding Sansan, chief technical engineer of the high-speed maglev project and deputy chief engineer of CRRC Sifang Co., Ltd., the high-speed maglev off the assembly line is the world’s first high-speed maglev transportation system with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour. The basic principle of adopting mature and reliable normal guidance technology is to use electromagnetic attraction to make the train levitate on the track to realize non-contact operation. It has the technical advantages of high efficiency, fast, safe and reliable, strong transportation capacity, flexible marshalling, comfortable on-time, convenient maintenance, and environmental protection.

The high-speed maglev with a speed of 600 kilometers per hour is the fastest ground vehicle currently achievable. Calculated according to the actual travel time “door-to-door”, it is the fastest mode of transportation within a distance of 1,500 kilometers.

It adopts the operating structure of “car holding rail”, which is safe and reliable. The traction power supply system is arranged on the ground, and the power is supplied in sections according to the position of the train. Only one train runs in the adjacent section, and there is basically no risk of rear-end collision. Realize GOA3 level fully automatic operation, and the system safety protection meets the highest safety level requirement of SIL4.

As a useful supplement to high-speed transportation, high-speed maglev can meet diversified travel needs and promote the coordinated development of regional economic integration.

It is understood that, focusing on engineering and industrialization, CRRC Sifang has built a professional high-speed maglev integrated experimental center and trial production center in the National High-speed Train Technology Innovation Center. The cooperation unit within the United Nations has constructed vehicles, traction power supply, operation control communications, and lines. The track internal system simulation and test platform has built a localized industrial chain from core components, key systems to system integration.
