The California company Mighty Buildings Inc. officially launched Mighty Mods, a 3D printed prefabricated modular residential unit (ADU), manufactured by 3D printing, using thermoset composite panels and steel frames.
Now, in addition to selling and building Mighty Mods using a large-scale additive manufacturing process based on extrusion and UV curing, in 2021, the company is focusing on its UL 3401-certified, continuous glass fiber reinforced thermoset light stone material (LSM). ) . This will enable Mighty Buildings to begin manufacturing and selling its next product: Mighty Kit System (MKS).
Mighty Mods are single-layer structures ranging from 350 to 700 square feet, printed and assembled at the company’s California plant, and delivered by crane, ready for installation.According to Sam Ruben, Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) of Mighty Buildings, because the company wants to expand to customers outside of California and build larger structures, there are inherent transportation restrictions for transporting these existing structures. Therefore, the Mighty Kit system will include structural panels and other building materials, using basic building equipment for on-site assembly.

The Mighty House product line is all single-story, ranging from 400 square feet of one-bedroom ADUs to 1,440 square feet of three-bedroom and two-living family homes. The company hopes to start construction before the end of this year after obtaining proper certification.
In addition, all Mighty Kits will use 3D printed fiber-reinforced thermoset composite structural panels. Fiber-reinforced components made of this material “have similar properties to reinforced concrete of the same size, but the weight is reduced by four times, and the insulation performance is increased by more than four times.
Fiber-reinforced panels will enable the company to expand into multi-storey single-family houses, multi-family townhouses and low-rise apartment buildings with three to six floors.
